Description
Fort Frederick State Park, at Big Pool, Maryland, features a frontier fort from the French and Indian War. The fort sheltered hundreds of settlers and militia during a 1763 Indian uprising, and the fort was used in the Revolutionary War as a prison for Hessian and British soldiers. The stone wall and two barracks are restored to their 1758 appearance, and the fort hosts military reenactments and other events. This path leads to the gate.
